Stars Group Annual Results Take Boost From Sports & Casino Business

Following the news of The Stars Group acquiring a majority share of Australian gambling business CrownBet the online gambling firm best known for its PokerStars brand has announced its annual results for 2017.

For the period ending 31 December 2017 the company said that revenues in total hit $1.3 billion compared to $1.15 billion the previous year.

The online gambling firm said that the growth was across both online poker and its casino/sports betting platforms.

For online poker only the business saw a 3.7% increase in revenues up to $877.3 million, but the larger growth was from sports betting and casino offerings which rose 45.4% to $384 million. Net profits rose from $135 million the previous year to $259 million in 2017 representing a rise of 91%.
