Women in Gaming Awards make their mark with a celebration of diversity

The 7th Women in Gaming Awards – the established and most prestigious programme recognising inspirational women within the gaming industry took place Friday 20 May at the Jumeirah  Hotel in London to celebrate diversity, inclusion, leadership and excellence.

The  Woman in Gaming (WIG) Awards has been created to highlight the exceptional women working in the gaming based industry, role models that show it is an industry that offers exciting career opportunities for women on both a National and Global basis.

Clever Duck Media organisers of the Women in Gaming Awards said they had more than 300 nominations and entries across 16 categories and it was a hard job for Judges to decide on a shortlist as all were deserving award entries.

The WIG event showcases the achievements and innovation of women in gaming, identifying new role models and promoting further dialogue around diversity among industry influencers. Organised by Clever Duck Media, the Women in Gaming Awards has gathered resounding support from Visionary sponsors and companies of all sizes since launching back in 2010.

On the evening awards were presented by Britain’s got Talent Voice over artist Darren Altman who brought laughter to the lively evening with his voice comedy routine.

Industry Pride of the year Award went to Frida Östberg, she is responsible for coordinating NetEnt’s employee Health and Energy program, Frida draws on fifteen years’ experience as an international athlete and Olympian to serve as a role model for all of the company’s employees. Leading by example in helping them prioritize their work / life balance.

Outstanding Contribution Award went to Nicola Hodgson from Crown Melbourne Australia who spent 25 years in the industry internationally.
