Transmissions are increasing at a worrying rate in counties such as Clark County, Carson, Churchill, Clark, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Lyon, Mineral, Nye, Washoe and White Pine.
So the governor has stated that whether you have had or not had the vaccine you must wear a face mask indoors including casinos. That news is worrying to the major casinos as the removal of the order only came in mid-May and now with the advice to the governor from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) it has been decided to bring back the safety measure.
So far the Las Vegas Strip is not affected by the ruling and some casino operators support any mandate to face masks with both MGM and Wynn releasing the following statements:
“We will follow the Governor’s and Control Board’s directive and require all guests and employees to wear masks indoors, which we will communicate with signage and masks at entrance doors to the resort,” Wynn Las Vegas said in a statement.
“Nothing is more important than the health and safety of guests, employees and our community. We continually evaluate and update our policies based on the latest information and guidance from health experts and public officials,” MGM also said.
